May Summary

by Cocky Fish on May 31, 2009

Another month has gone by and my bankroll has grown.  My bankroll is $852 and change now and it’s apparent that I set my goal too low when I decided to shoot for $1000 by the end of the year.  To be fair, $200 of my bankroll is bonus cash, but even when you take that out of the equation I still have $652 (Which I’ll call my official bankroll).  I’m going to take the $200 and start to learn and blog about Pot Limit Omaha.

Here’s my graph so far:

I was able to plug a few leaks in my game including the coin flip poker leak and the tetanus leak (post to come).  Plugging these leaks helped my game immensely and my average ROI raised a couple of points.

I also removed one piece of software from my lineup and added three others.  I got rid of the Sharkscope HUD since the information it gave me only helped minimally and I added Hold’em Manager in its place.  The statistics I get from Hold’em Manager have helped me make critical decisions about when to re-steal and when to isolate and extract value.  This program comes with a 15 day free trial period if you want to try it.

FT Shortcuts doubled my profits by allowing me to play 8 or 10 tables at a time instead of 4 or 5 tables.  This program is awesome and I definitely recommend it to anyone who multi-tables on Full Tilt (I think it works for Stars too).

Sit N Go Wizard is the other program that’s helped me a lot.  I use this program to analyze my shove/fold decisions after my games are over.  I don’t think I’d be able to use ICM without it.  You can try SNGwizard free for 30 days here.

While I didn’t make Ironman this month, I did get Silver level status.  I think I’ll be able to reach Ironman next month since I’m at the $20 SNGs now and about to transition into the $30 SNGs.  If I don’t make Ironman, I’ll definitely make Gold.

May was a good month for me and I learned a lot.  I’m confident that I’ll break the $1000 mark in June, so I’m upping my goal to $5000 by the end of the year.  Wish me luck!
