June Summary

By Cocky Fish | Jun 30, 2009
Welcome back! I've finally made good on my promise to offer Free Poker Video Training. Make sure you sign up before you go.

I really thought this was going to be the month that I had to report a loss.  The beginning of June was not kind to me and I took a lot of rather spectacular beats.  At one point, Hold’em Manager had my luck adjusted winnings a full $500 above my actual winnings.

so sick June Summary

It was pretty rough and I started to dread playing.  I didn’t know how I was going to get beat, but I sure as hell knew it was coming.

After a while, things started turning around.  I started making money again and eventually moved up to the $30+3 SNGs where I made a killing.

so awesome June Summary

I also took a couple of shots at the $50+5s.  I lost one and took first in the other, so I’ll probably spend July slowly working my way into the $50+5 SNGs.

I’ve modified my poker bankroll strategy.  It’s more conservative than the Chris Ferguson 5% rule for Sit N Goes, but it’s still aggressive enough to help me reach my goal of making $5k by the end of the year and I finally made Ironman on Full Tilt, so I’m expecting $150 in bonus cash from the Mid-Year payout.  I plan on keeping my level of play up so I can keep my Ironman status and earn enough tokens to play the $75 tourneys on a regular basis.

In addition, I got rakeback set up on my Full Tilt account.  I sent FT an email and signed up at FT’s partner rakebackpros.com.  It took about a week, but it was well worth it.  I’m generating about $60 a week in rakeback.  I was so happy with it that I decided to offer rakeback on my site.  Check it out when you get a chance.  I put together some awesome deals for you guys.

My biggest leak this month has been pot limit omaha. I have a hard time determining when to c-bet and when to check/fold.  I was also playing a super-aggressive style that got me into a lot of trouble.  I reined it in a little and had my first winning session yesterday finishing up $50.  I’m still down $35 overall, but it feels good to have a “w” under my belt.  The game is a blast and I look forward to getting comfortable enough to move out of the $0.10/$0.25 level.

So what’s the bottom line?  My bankroll stands at $2,202.10 and I’m on track to beat my goal of $5k by year’s end.  Wish me luck!
