On paper I’m a poker expert. I’ve read almost every major poker book ever written. I know the material and can impress more experienced poker players with my knowledge. But despite my book smarts, I’m stuck at the low limit tables. Basically I’m a cocky fish. My brain says I have the right answers but my bankroll says otherwise.
Don’t mistake me. I’m a winning player. I’ve played poker for about 7 years now. I started with $50 that Party Poker gave me and have rolled that money up considerably. I’ve won books and poker chip sets as well as a couple of well-paying tournaments. But something always seems to happen in my life that causes me to cash out. Whenever I try to deposit more money into my account, I go on a hellacious cold streak and lose half of it. It seems like my bankroll’s happy place is around $500. For whatever reason, I can’t seem to break that level.
Enter my blog. This blog will be a collection of poker stories, hand puzzles and videos. Being the cocky fish that I am, I’ll also throw in some strategy articles for good measure. I recently cashed out all but $100 of my bankroll. My goal is to build it up to $1,000 $5,000 by the end of 2009 while playing in what little free time I have. Above all, this blog will chronicle my journey.
So grab a beer and start reading. Feel free to comment where you’d like and add your own stories as well. Let’s see if this cocky fish can turn into a badass shark.
Cheers,
The Cocky Fish
